A leading member of the team that invented CMOS digital image sensor technology – enabling the digital camera revolution from cell-phones to movie cameras – Dr. Bedabrata Pain was an award-winning senior research scientist at NASA and Caltech for over 15 years. He holds over 90 patents and is an inductee to the US Space Technology Hall of Fame.
With his directorial debut Chittagong (2012) – starring Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rajkumar Rao, Vijay Verma, Jaideep Ahlawat – he won four Indian National Awards, including the prestigious Golden Lotus as the best first film and the best debut director, as well as awards in several international film festivals. Executive Producer
Sristy is a jack and master of all trades she touches. Having been widely published and cited in her scientific career, she works with some of the world’s premier laboratories at JILA and NIST. Her research involves quantum sensing, quantum computing, and quantum gravity. She is also an aspiring filmmaker and currently working on other documentary and feature film projects. If that were not enough, she leads an exciting startup that performs R&D and fabrication on chip-scale quantum sensors. Her problem-solving and networking skills were core to the development of this project.
Cinematography
Rajashik is a physicist by training and an aspiring filmmaker. He did his undergraduate studies in India at IISER-Kolkata, during which, he represented India on various international platforms. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Physics at the prestigious California Institute of Technology (Caltech) where he uses his training to decipher quantum mechanical descriptions of gravitational wave experiments. He has also been part of research groups in Germany and Norway. In the same spirit of empiricism that brought him to science, Rajashik entered into this documentary project. For what better way to predict the impact of an action than analyzing what similar actions have done before?
Apart from his love for movies and Physics, he takes refuge in his book collection and currently spends his time learning to box and fly.
Creative Producer
Juggle it all – is her motto. After packing her three kids off to college this stay-at-home mom dove right into pursuing her hobbies. Whether it’s glissading down mountains or strapping on her hiking gear; whether it’s traipsing solo across the globe or yielding her invisible baton to direct plays – Rumela Ganguly, a passionate thespian since 2004, slips into each of these roles with practiced ease.
So, once this opportunity arose to drive approx. 10,000 km to make this documentary, “Déjà vu” happen, she did not hesitate!
